Barry Allen’s relaxing trip to Metropolis is about to go sideways. While speeding off to help in an impromptu battle, The Flash blazes and rips through time, only to find himself dropped into the middle of World War II. It’s here that The Flash meets Wonder Woman and her top secret team, known as the Justice Society of America. Witness the raging tides of war, gripping combat and the velocity of valour as The Flash fights to get back to his own timeline!
Justice Society World War II is a thrill ride of a movie packed full of DC Comics lore. Fans are going to adore this movie and its explosiveness. The cast are exceptional, the characters deep and the story highly entertaining.
The base setting of World War II brings on feelings and thoughts of the live action Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot. The inclusion of heroes such as Hourman, Hawkman, Black Canary and Jay Garrick define the movie apart from others in a fantastic way. Hitler on the search for ancient magical artefacts is always going to be a problem and it’s no surprise that this team are the ones to stop him in his tracks. The spanner in the works that is ‘Future Boy’ is superbly acted by everyone.
The cast have done an astounding job of portraying all these beloved characters true to their individual personalities whilst applying some beautiful heart-warming elements throughout. I will keep this review spoiler free but trust me when I say that these moments were outstanding.
My personal highlight was the surprise inclusion… watch it you’ll see. I’m not saying a thing! Lips sealed! I will say that, out of all the cast, I really really enjoyed Elysia Rotaru’s portrayal of Black Canary, she had all the fire and ferocity but that was coupled with a Green Arrow-esqe quick wittedness. I would love to see her in an animation with Green Arrow in the future.
A action packed, time travelling, character focused, thrill ride of a movie that once again helps cement DC Comics & Warner Bros. status as the champions of superhero animation. As per usual, Warner Bros and DC Comics have successfully delivered another superb entry into the DCAU and I am very much looking forward to the next instalment which is due to be Batman: The Long Halloween Part One.
Don't miss this superb movie, sit back with some snacks, a drink and enjoy the DC Comics spender that is ... Justice Society World War II!
