Plot

When Dan Collins wakes to find his life hanging by a thread, he must use his astral projection to discover who tried to kill him. Who is the beautiful mystic who tries to help him? Why does August Fryne want Dan’s soul – and what does it have to do with a demon who seems to be Dorian Gray? A weird, occult detective thriller about life, death – and whatever lies in between.

From award-winning comic book writer Peter Milligan (X-Force, X-Statix) and artistic sensation Inaki Miranda (WE LIVE, Harley Quinn) comes an awesome new dimension in horror and mystery!

My Opinion

A mysterious adventure that looks set to become a staple feature on pull lists for the coming months.

I really find the paranormal/supernatural crazy interesting, so this was right up my street. This issue, the first in the series, is very much a set up issue that is based on story and character building. Setting the scene for what is to come. Credit to the team for focusing the storytelling primarily inside the mind of a victim of an accident, thus heading towards an … that’s that you guessed it … an out of body experience!

Peter Milligan has a really fantastic writing ability and excels at character building. I am already so very invested in these characters and I’m already engrossed in each of their stories and the situations surrounding them. We have a mystical type character that almost lives in two worlds, the ‘real’ world and the paranormal realm where spirits roam. On the other hand we have a character, who has suffered a mysterious accident that is unravelling as we read.

The artwork throughout is stunning, the artistic team do a captivating job of capturing each panel with beautiful colours, characters, backgrounds and spiritual projections. I was a huge fan of the way in which the spirits were presented and especially drawn to all the colours during Dan’s ‘trip’.

Issue #1 builds a fantastical story and develops some highly interesting characters, I am truly intrigued to see how this story develops as the series continues. I really highly recommend giving this comic a read, I'm sure you’ll be adding the subscription to your pulls with your local comic shop, it really is a captivating comic.

“Sometimes during the seemingly-endless night I get another visitor. But I can’t figure out if she is real…” - Dan Collins
