Grace couldn't be happier after she marries the man of her dreams at his family's
luxurious estate. There's just one catch -- she must now hide from midnight until dawn while her new in-laws hunt her down with guns, crossbows and other weapons. As Grace desperately tries to survive the night, she soon finds a way to turn the tables on her not-so-lovable relatives.
This movie is nuts. So brilliantly nuts. As long as you don’t take it too seriously and enjoy it for what it is then you will have a fantastic time watching this.
Ready or Not best described as the worst ‘meeting the in-laws’ ever. I mean, imagine spending your wedding night thinking you’re playing hide and seek (which is weird enough for me) but in actual fact you are being hunted by your unhinged family brandishing crossbows, pistols, bows, axes and hunting rifles. It’s not something I would want to endure, but that is exactly what Grace played by Samara Weaving does and she does it superbly. You will find yourself cheering Grace on and willing her to survive.
The dark comedy and jokes, those ones that you think to yourself that you really shouldn’t be laughing at, are expertly delivered and I found myself going from hysterically laughing to wincing at the gory end that someone suddenly comes to which also uses great effects which I couldn’t find fault, although some were a bit over the top, i’ll leave it at ‘blood explosion’ (watch and you’ll know what im talking about). The story is ok, in that it’s not going to win Oscars but does the job of providing a platform for the films’ actors to impress. It also is rounded off and you’re aren’t left wondering what’s going to happen or are we going to get a sequel.
An excellent horror/thriller movie that should be on any fans of this genre’s watch list. Ready or Not is a goretastic, wedding from the deepest, darkest depths of hell that will have you laughing one minute and covering our eyes and begging your dinner to stay down the next. Go watch!
